Solar for Licensed Cannabis Facilities
Licensed indoor cultivation facilities carry some of the highest electrical loads per square foot of any building type, driven by horticultural lighting and dehumidification. Solar cannot carry that load alone, but it offsets a meaningful share, storage attacks the demand charges, and many local jurisdictions now expect renewable energy in the permit application.
Eventure's Role
Where cannabis operations are legally permitted, Eventure works with licensed operators, developers, and their engineers to plan solar and storage that fit the facility's load and the jurisdiction's requirements.
We bring solar into the project at schematic design, size the Energy Code requirement, coordinate the roof, structure, electrical rooms, and battery location with your architect and engineers, and carry the system through permitting, utility interconnection, inspection, commissioning, and closeout.
Title 24 treatment
Cannabis facilities combine cultivation, processing, warehouse, and office spaces. Cultivation areas may be regulated as covered processes, while conditioned warehouse and office portions fall under Section 140.10. Local licensing conditions may add renewable energy requirements beyond the Energy Code.
Design Considerations
What is different about cannabis facilities.
- Load realityHorticultural lighting and HVAC loads far exceed what a roof produces. We present the offset honestly and design storage for demand management.
- Utility capacityCultivation facilities often strain local distribution capacity. Early coordination with the utility on service size and interconnection protects the schedule.
- Local permitting conditionsJurisdictions that license cannabis operations frequently attach renewable energy or efficiency conditions. We align the solar scope with those conditions.
- Classification under the Energy CodeCultivation spaces may be regulated as covered processes; warehouse, office, and distribution portions are listed occupancies.
Keep Solar Off the Critical Path
Don't let solar be the last thing standing between your project and its Certificate of Occupancy.
On cannabis facilities projects, as on every California building, the Energy Code requirement, the fire authority's review of the battery, the utility's interconnection timeline, and the building's final inspection all depend on the solar scope being designed, permitted, installed, and documented in sequence. We treat it as a scheduled trade from day one.
Solar and the Certificate of Occupancy
Questions
Cannabis Facilities solar, answered.
Can solar power an indoor cultivation facility?
Not entirely. Lighting and HVAC loads far exceed rooftop production. Solar offsets a share, storage reduces demand charges, and together they help satisfy local renewable energy conditions attached to the license.
Does Eventure work on cannabis projects statewide?
We work with licensed operators in jurisdictions where the activity is legally permitted and the project has the required local approvals.

Send us the drawings at any stage. We will size the Title 24 requirement, review the roof and electrical approach, and map the path to a Certificate of Occupancy that does not wait on solar.
