Building Types
Solar for every category of California new construction.
Each building type carries its own Energy Code treatment, load profile, roof conditions, metering structure, and permitting path. We plan solar for all of them, from a single custom home to a million-square-foot distribution center.

How the Code Sorts Buildings
Three questions decide the requirement.
What is the occupancy?
Nonresidential buildings are covered when at least 80% of floor area is in listed occupancies. Multifamily follows Section 170.2. Single-family follows the residential provisions. Covered processes, unconditioned space, and some institutional uses are treated differently.
Is it conditioned?
Unconditioned warehouses and storage are not subject to the PV and battery requirements. Conditioned space is. Spec buildings that may be conditioned later deserve a strategy now.
How much roof is available?
Solar Access Roof Area, after fire pathways, equipment, and shade, caps the requirement and determines whether carports or canopies are needed to meet it.
