Solar for New Hotel and Resort Construction

Hotels run around the clock: guestroom climate control, laundry, kitchens, pools, and lobbies never fully shut down. The Energy Code lists hotels and motels among the occupancies that must install PV and battery storage, and the 2025 code raised the hotel capacity factor in every climate zone. For a hospitality developer the solar scope is a fixed part of the building program.

Eventure's Role

Eventure designs and delivers solar and storage for hotel developers, brands, and general contractors, planned around the roof, the amenity deck, and the opening date.

We bring solar into the project at schematic design, size the Energy Code requirement, coordinate the roof, structure, electrical rooms, and battery location with your architect and engineers, and carry the system through permitting, utility interconnection, inspection, commissioning, and closeout.

Title 24 treatment

Hotels and motels are listed occupancies under Section 140.10, requiring PV and battery storage on newly constructed buildings. The 2025 Energy Code increased the hotel/motel PV capacity factor in all climate zones. Hotels up to 10 habitable stories not required to install PV must meet solar-ready requirements.

Design Considerations

What is different about hotels & resorts.

  • Roof deck competitionPool decks, bars, and mechanical equipment occupy hotel roofs. We coordinate the array with the architect's amenity program and the mechanical engineer's equipment plan while the roof can still be shaped.
  • Round-the-clock load and storageHotel loads extend well past sunset. Storage sized beyond the code minimum shifts production into evening peaks and supports critical systems during outages.
  • Solar-ready for taller hotelsHotels and motels up to 10 habitable stories that are not required to install PV must still meet solar-ready requirements, reserving roof area and electrical pathways for a future system.
  • Brand standards and sightlinesResort architecture often depends on roof forms and views. We design arrays to respect sightlines and brand standards, using carports and low-profile mounting where it matters.

Keep Solar Off the Critical Path

Don't let solar be the last thing standing between your project and its Certificate of Occupancy.

On hotels & resorts projects, as on every California building, the Energy Code requirement, the fire authority's review of the battery, the utility's interconnection timeline, and the building's final inspection all depend on the solar scope being designed, permitted, installed, and documented in sequence. We treat it as a scheduled trade from day one.

Questions

Hotels & Resorts solar, answered.

Does a new hotel in California need solar and a battery?

Yes, with limited exceptions. Hotels and motels are listed occupancies, so newly constructed buildings must install a PV system sized by the floor-area or roof-area method and a battery sized to the PV system.

Can the hotel's battery provide backup power?

It can, if the critical-load panel and controls are designed for it. Many operators size storage to carry life-safety systems, refrigeration, and front-desk operations through outages. That is a design-phase decision we help owners make.

Send us the drawings at any stage. We will size the Title 24 requirement, review the roof and electrical approach, and map the path to a Certificate of Occupancy that does not wait on solar.
